GenAge entry for ND75 (Drosophila melanogaster)
Gene information (ID: 1898)
- Symbol
- ND75
- Name
- NADH:ubiquinone reductase 75kD subunit precursor
- Organism
- Drosophila melanogaster (AnAge)
Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing
- Observations
- Mitochondrial perturbation through a weak muscle-specific RNA interference of ND75 increases lifespan and preserves locomotory ability. Contrarly, a strong RNA interference of ND75 in the muscle resulted in a developmental arrest around 2 days after egg deposition, with severe myonuclear disintegration and a severely reduced lifespan.
- % change in max lifespan
- Maximum lifespan is 19% higher.
- % change in avg or median lifespan
- Median lifespan is 15% higher.
- Lifespan Effect
- Increase
- Genetic Manipulation
