These animals have been reported to live up to 32 years in captivity [1355]. However, one captive specimen in Israel lived at least 30.8 years. This specimen could have been older, though, because its exact date of birth and death are unknown [0671].

Studies have shown that aged individuals of this species have a similar pathology of Alzheimer's Disease to humans [1355].
