- Symbol
- xbp-1
- Name
- Protein XBP-1
- Organism
- Caenorhabditis elegans (AnAge)
- Observations
- Ubiquitous expression of xbp-1s did not extend lifespan, despite increasing ER stress resistance. Neuronal xbp-1s transgenic animals had a surprising and significant extension of longevity (20-30%). Expression in the intestine also resulted in an increase longevity by 20%, whereas expression in the muscle cells shortened lifespan by 25%.
