- Symbol
- vang-1
- Name
- Protein VANG-1
- Organism
- Caenorhabditis elegans (AnAge)
- Observations
- Vang-1 mutations as well as RNAi depletion result in an increased mean lifespan in a DAF-16 dependent manner. The longevity phenotype is accompanied by enhanced resistance to thermal- and oxidative stress and decreased lipofuscin accumulation. Mutants also have a smaller brood size, decreased ovulation rate and prolonged reproductive span.
- % change in avg or median lifespan
- Average lifespan is up to 40% higher.
