- When Nmdmc was ubiquitously overexpressed in flies mean lifespan was increased. Specific expression of Nmdmc in the body abdominal fat led to an increase in lifespan of 23% in males and 14% in females. In addition the flies were found to be more resistant to various stresses including starvation, oxidation and heat.
