- Symbol
- Kcna3
- Aliases
- Mk-3; Kv1.3; Kca1-3
- Name
- Potassium voltage-gated channel, shaker-related subfamily, member 3
- Organism
- Mus musculus (AnAge)
- Observations
- Kv1.3-null mice weigh less than their WT counterparts, have modified ingestive behaviors, are resistant to fat deposition following a moderately high-fat dietary regime and have improved longevity and fecundity. Moreover, gene-targeted deletion of Kv1.3 in MC4R-null mice (36% shorter lifespan compared to WT) returned the lifespan of these mice to approximately WT levels.
