Drosophila melanogasterGenAge entry for Sirt4 (Drosophila melanogaster)

Gene information (ID: 2235)

Symbol
Sirt4
Name
Sirtuin 4
Organism
Drosophila melanogaster (AnAge)

Potential relevance to longevity and/or ageing

Observations
Flies overexpressing Sirt4 demonstrated a 20% increase in median lifespan compared to controls. Specific expression of Sirt4 in the fat body resulted in increased lifespan in males and females. Sirt4 knockout flies are short-lived compared to controls and had a 28% decrease in median lifespan in females and a 17% decrease in median lifespan in males.
% change in avg or median lifespan
Median lifespan is 20% higher.
